Fruits are absolutely essential to a naturally healthy diet, packed with antioxidants, fiber, vitamins and mineral and flavor. Antioxidants attack the biochemical free radicals which are produced by the body and damage cells. Fiber keeps our bowel and digestive system healthy. Vitamins and minerals are essential for body function. Flavor is the reason we come back and eat more. They also give use strong immune systems which prevents illness and disease from taking hold.

Here are some great choices to get you started:

Berries–The brighter or deeper the color the better. Blueberries, cranberries and all the bramble family are excellent. Berries hold the most antioxidant value of all fruits and vegetable groups. Blueberry compounds have been proven to keep the brain healthy. The brain suffers as we age but blueberries can help stop conditions like Alzheimer’s and other motor function decline.

Cherries–Rich in the antioxidant compound called anthocyanin cherries can provide relief for inflammatory diseases such as arthritis. The micronutrients in cherries can have a significant impact on your cells.

Tomatoes–These are technically a fruit even though we class them as a vegetable. Tomatoes are rich in lycopene and this substance is a leader in prevention of a number of cancers. Packed with Vitamin C which is a vital antioxidants for many functions of the body, tomatoes will boost your immune system.

Every fruits has value and the more you can consume the better. Fresh from the plant is best, and freshly squeezed is a powerhouse of nutrients.
